An Australian idea! Beauty Swatch is an online resource that gives as-close-to-real-life colour swatches of the latest lipsticks. Nice. If you’re normal.
Sadly, the site is of little help to me. Lipstick turns weird colours on me. Anything with a hint of blue (ie crimson or pinks) goes HOT HOT pink on me. I can only wear fire engine red or browns. This is due to that damn auto-immune disease, which causes an acidic system, which causes lipstick colours to wharp, charcoal eyeshadow to turn blue, foundation to go white, and perfume to smell like metho. Interesting, hey!? Most makeup artists who do my face for functions and shoots can’t quite believe it. Until they see it.
Another side-effect of auto-immune disease, or at least hashimoto’s: you lose the outer 1/3 of your eyebrows. True! I have to pencil mine back in. A bit of a crook look. But circumnavigatable.
Beauty Swatch was just featured on springwise, which will give the site a big leg-up in visitors. Akisa, the site’s founder, tells springwise : “If you’re like me, I always google the makeup product for swatch images before I purchase online. Most times I can’t find the shade in high quality images, and other times a totally unrelated brand or shade appears in my search results on my favourite blogs!! Hence the idea sprung on me one day to start up BeautySwatch.com, and build a colour swatch library with high quality images.”
